GajKesari Yog Dhasu Naam consists of the kings of the animal kingdom in its name. A literal translation will mean Elephant Lion Yog, but its meaning is complex. It means one with such yog will have the command like Gaj and Kesari, he/she will own elephants-lions power, rule over all possess all the riches, and the fame will be everlasting.
How is the yog formed? We will refer to Rishi Parashar (one who composed all the rules of this shastra) definition in this Bright Parashar Hora Shastra (BPHS); he states this yog forms when the Moon and Jupiter are in Kendra to each other. The problem with Rishis is that they think the world is at their level of intelligence. Just being Kendra to each other does not clear things for us. When the seer describes the benefits of this yog, he states those benefits at the peak of the yog. At its full glory at epitome, will give 100% of results. Misunderstanding this or failing to take this into account, an astrologer will make an absolute blunder when he comes across the GajKesari yog, which is technically present in millions of charts.
Understanding what the great Rishi intended to say, how to infer it, and then applying it is a mystery! The reason so many astrologers outright make erroneous predictions. The foremost question is what does it mean to in Kendra to each other? In English, we describe it as being square to each other or in quadrants with each other. The square houses in the middle are the Kendra houses (1, 4, 7, 10), while house numbers 1, 5 9 are the Trikon houses. The classification is not based on the shapes; rather, it depends on the degree to which these houses are from each other. (Remember, house no one is both in the Kendra and on the Trikon.)
So when Jupiter-Moon occupies these four houses, they are said to be in Kendra to each other. However, if we go by the definition of Kendra as per degrees, other combinations can form this yog. For example, Jupiter-Moon occupies 2nd and 8th houses, are in Kendra, though the houses are not Kendra houses. Such a Gajkesari isn’t blemish-free. To get 100% results of GajKesari, it should be free from any blemish, which means Jupiter/moon should not be conjunct with any Kroor or Paap-Grah; they should not be any Ddushthana houses (6,8,12) or in 2,3,11 houses. They should not be aspected from any Kroor or Paap-Grah; Moon should be waxing. There are many such considerations for getting the full effect of the Yog.
The point here is, there are so many ifs and buts that a chance of a blemish-free formation of GajKesari gets dimmer and dimmer.
The astrologer has to see all this in just a few minutes when a client visits him. He has to see if the birth time is right, study all the planets, their houses, their relations with each other, and what yog are formed. Then check if the identified yogs are canceled. Are they any Maharpurush yog? Are they blemish-free? These multitudes of calculations he has to see through and make predictions considering DKP (Desha-Kaal-Paristithi), check if right Dasha is running. What are the planet Avasthas other factors? Guess what will be the rate of success?
The bottom line is that the science is designed to fail; not all shall be revealed is also the science’s motto.
Of the charts I have seen, at least 15% had GajKesari yog, but not one was blemish-free. Few come hearing the name and wishing to hear when will their days of glory come. If denied, it hurts them; they will visit the next astrologer, rather keep visiting until they hear what they want to hear. They get happy when some astrologer suggests they wear a Pukraj/yellow sapphire to strengthen their Jupiter, and their yog will work wonders. Such Yog activation never works. Even if Jupiter gets strengthened, he may bless elsewhere, but if the yog has a blemish, the result will never be complete.
Depending on the blemish, the effect will reduce, and results will vary, so the presence of such a yog or any other yog doest not promise its full benefit. Humans expect a lot from astrology, and they deny the truth it throws back. We want to hear what we want to hear and then keep running pillar to post to get that dictation from some astrologer. Some astrologers do oblige, but that does not make the yog work. So astrology gets the blame; it does not work is the direct conclusion. Our expectation fails us, our refusal to accept truth hurts, plus we always need a scapegoat.
Also, it is worth observing the two planets that are involved in this yog. Jupiter and Moon. Jupiter is pure knowledge, while Moon is mind. Thus when the mind truly masters knowledge, one can rule the world. We who cannot even master not looking at our mobiles each time it buzzes, how are we to rule the world. Moon and Jupiter are like BFF, the mind loves/seeks knowledge, and Jupiter loves to teach, added he is not a hard taskmaster, tames the mind in the sweetest possible way. The people with yog (blemished ones) will try and seek the vanity it promises, ones without blemish will already own knowledge that this all is Moh-Maya- they keep doing their Karm. Jupiter is the planet of aspirations, and when it is in arms with Moon (mind), it can take any human on an incredible ride; that is the downs side of being with a blemish.
two questions.
1. What are the ‘degrees’ by which Jupiter Moon should be seperated to form a kendra, is it approx 6 houses?
2. Jupiter is the planet of aspirations, and when it is in arms with Moon (mind), it can take any human on an incredible ride; that is the downs side of being with a blemish.- maybe this statement requires some clarification, do you mean incredibly tumultuous ride ?
Hi Saumya,
1. to be in Kendra from each other the planets are to in 4th, 7th or 10th from each other. I usually avoid getting technical as that is not the focus of these articles
2. Jupiter is aspirations, moon is mind. When the mind meets aspirations it can make a person rise in life, given that this yog has no blemish, if there is blemish it can cause fall too. But this isn’t all so simple or linear, blemish, the intensity of yog, all need to evaluated before one claims Gajkesari yog.
Аmazing! This blog looks just like my old one! It’s on a entireⅼy different subject but it has pretty much the same
page layout and design. Excellent choice of colors!
nice article
Yog’s are really funny things. So many of my friends were told they have ‘Raj Yog’ however like you said no one nuanced it with how much will be the size of the kingdom for some the kingdoms are just too small
